High school creative patriotic song competition

Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Education cooperated together to organize “High School Creative Patriotic Song Competition” in Boai Military Base today. After a fierce competition among ten high schools, Juang Jing Vocational High School from Taipei City won first place as the winner recorded with 7 consecutive wins. These young students expressed vitality and energy in this activity, which could bring the civilians to participate in the activities held by Ministry of National Defense with support and passion.

The activity today was held by Minister Yen, Teh-fa, and Political Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education Tsai, Ching-hua also attended it. The dancing by Entertainment Battalion and the performance of showing off the flair by the Tri-Service Honor Guard were firstly held at 1.50 pm to get the ball rolling. Three AH-64E and three UH-60M helicopters from Armed Forces were then flying over Boai Military Base before the activity formally commenced.

Ten high schools participated in this competition: Yu Da High School of Commerce and Home Economics and Song Sang High School of Commerce and Home Economics from Taipei City, Juang Jing Vocational High School and Nan Chiang Industrial and Commercial Senior High School from New Taipei City, Hsinchu Kuang-Fu High School, Youth Senior High School and Taichung Home Economics and Commercial High School from Taichung City, National Tseng-Wen Senior Home Economics & Commercial Vocational High School and National Xinying Industrial Vocational High School from Tainan City, and Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School. All students made great efforts to show their creativity in the performance which they had practiced hard. They also expressed more stylish posture and creative team’s slogans to show the distinction from each school both in performing the appointed song, “We Stand Still on the Pacific Ocean,” and their own selected songs. The new way of performing these military or patriotic songs had not only made the activity more impressive, but it had also been applauded by the people on the spot. Finally, Juang Jing Vocational High School, Youth Senior High School, and Nan Chiang Industrial and Commercial Senior High School respectively won first place, second place, and third place in the competition.

In order to have more diversity in the activity, Armed Forces Museum was firstly opened by Ministry of National Defense for people to visit today, and two helicopters, one AH-64E and one AH-1W, were displayed on the plaza. 39 interactive stalls including introduction to National Defense and recruitment, and fun fair were located on the welcome avenue to provide the civilians with more opportunities to understand issues regarding National Defense and also accumulate more knowledge about it.
