(Military news agency reporter Chou Li-hsing, Oct. 28, Taoyuan) To promote national defense and present the results of preparations by the Army, Army Aviation and Special Forces Command held a “National Defense Acknowledgement Camp Open House” event, which was hosted by Army Commander Gen. Wang Hsin-Long. The event presents army equipment on action and off action, weapon performance and training results. There were over 10000 visitors to the campsite.
The camp open house was a combination show of army and air force characteristics. The AH-64E Apache and AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters carried out single aircraft battle techniques, simulated air strikes and surprise air attacks and entrance formation drills to delight the visitors. Unfortunately due to weather Special
Forces Dragon Team’s parachuting drill was canceled. But the brilliant helicopter drills was a real treat for the visitors with oohs around.
A fair was also planned for this open house event. Personnel recruitment, local specialties and gourmet, trivia games and national defense booths were in place. And nationals could take the “Clouded Leopard” Infantry Fighting Vehicle and experience first-hand the on-field capabilities of the car. Other enriching exercises included Army 6th Corp 153th Battalion Dancing Dragons, Guard of Honor, MP Command Heavyweight Motorcycle Show. And weapons display included 3 categories of helicopters including the AH-64E Apache and 18 weapons in total. Nationals rushed to take photos to savor.
Aviation Special Forces Command commented that through this open house event and the exercises held, that it was hoped that nationals could experience the quality of the weapons and take in the results of training that have improved with time, and that nationals could have a better understanding of our Aviation Special Forces and give their approval and support to national defense actions.
