Visit of Media Reporters

The MND will, on its initiative, host regular and irregular visits, and coordinate or arrange domestic and overseas military correspondents to interview senior officers of the armed forces or pay visits to troops. In such a way, they can then verify the effects of streamlined and proficient training within the armed forces, helping to promote accurate cognition of our nationals to national defense, and coalescing defense consensus.

Response to News

With regard to major military news, the PLA' motions and incorrect news that would affect the morale of the general public, the MND will swiftly coordinate each of their related units to provide accurate and detailed information, and give explanations and clarifications actively.

Convening

Regular Press Conferences

At 10am of every Tuesday, the MND will invite military correspondents to attend the ministry's news conferences, while this office will focus on major policy implementation with regard to national defense, R & D in weapon systems, important events of exercises, significant effects of force build-up and combat readiness, as well as the PLA's motions that might affect the morale of the general public to carry out policy explanation and sit for press inquiry. Under the premise that classified national defense information won't be divulged, officers from each of the business units will be invited to address the press, and they will help to build up an accurate cognition for the general public regarding the force build-up and combat readiness.

Briefing on the Background of Military News

The MND will, in a timely manner, sponsor background elaboration on the implementation of major policy for national defense so as to realize the policy of “transparency on national defense policies,” and strive for support and approval from our (Taiwanese) nationals.

When news statements and information on press conferences are released, they are simultaneously made public via both the MND and Military News Agency websites for the people to inquire, make reference and download.
