In response to a media report online that "military service has been officially extended to a year", the Ministry of National Defense (MND) clarified today (1st) that the content described is not factual, and the case is currently under review.
The MND pointed out that it has stated publicly several times that an extension of military service has not yet been finalized, and speculation about the issue in the media only causes confusion among the public.
The MND emphasizes that it is necessary to consider the enemy threat, defense operational needs, and the training capacity of troops across the board, as well as other supporting measures, when pertaining to reform of the military service system to meet modern warfare needs.
