The Air Force Command stated today (14) that a Mirage 2000-5 fighter jet (numbered No. 2017) subordinated to Hsinchu base took off from Taitung Chihang Air Base at 1008 this morning as it performed a routine combat training mission and needed to return to the base after reporting machinery failure in airspace. At 1126, catapult ejection was called out 10 miles south of Taitung Chihang Air Base. As such, the Air Force immediately dispatched a UH-60M to the site and completed personnel rescue at 1206. The pilot rescued was in good condition and sent to the hospital for observation.

The Air Force Command further stated that a task force was set up to head to Chihang Air Base of Taitung to clarify the cause of the incident.
