Air Force Command issues a press release explaining "Project 0111, and the decision to stop salvage operations"

Air Force Command stated today (21st) that when the first-level flight safety incident of F-16 fighter jet occurred at Chiayi base on January 11, Command had immediately put together a search and rescue center. With the participation of authorities such as the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board, Coastal Guard Administration, and the Police (fight-fighting), volunteer personnel, and the Armed Forces and other related professionals, "the crash remnant of the flight data recorder" (black box) and most of the wreckage of the aircraft have been recovered after uninterrupted search and salvage operations day and night. Air Force Command furthered explained that 56 air force sorties, 35 surface troops, and 1,288 ground search and rescue personnel were dispatched to carry out comprehensive search and salvage operations. After a comprehensive assessment and an explanation to the family, which they have approved, Command has decided to terminate salvage operations at noon today. As for the cause of the accident, a special investigation committee will now invite the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board, experts and scholars to furnish an investigation report in this case.
