As Typhoon Chanthu is approaching, the Disaster Response Center of the MND has completed first-level establishment.

MND stated today (11th) that it and the 2nd Combat Zone have, in response to approaching Typhoon Chanthu to Taiwan, completed first-level establishment working in cooperation with the Central Disaster Response Center (CDC) at 20:30 yesterday evening. As for the 4th Combat Zone, it completed first-level establishment by 1200 hours. For the rest of the combat zones, they will work with local governments to upgrade their establishment level.

The MND further stated there are more than 31,000 troops from the Armed Forces on standby, with more than 4,100 vehicles and machines ready to move out. The MND has also positioned more than 300 troops at the 2nd and 4th Combat Zone, with two AAV7 amphibious assault vehicles and two rubber boats prepared at each of the following spots: Xiahu West Camp of Linkou, Zhongzheng Base of Suao, Guantian Camp of Tainan, and Renshou Camp of Pingtung. All the manpower and vehicles can be employed for disaster prevention and rescue missions at any time.

The MND emphasizes that the Armed Forces will, as Typhoon Chanthu approaches Taiwan, continue to watch its movements closely. To ensure the safety of officers and soldiers, it will actively work with local governments, police departments, and other units to dispatch disaster prevention forces and give full play to the government disaster prevention capacity to safeguard people's health and safety and property.
