In response to media reports that "the captain of the Yong Shun-class mine hunter is well supported and was even selected as the model for the team", Naval Fleet Command explained today (7th) as follows:
1.The Yong Shun-class mine hunter decorated as the annual model and the appointment of its captain, the Lieutenant Colonel, were all handled according to the relevant operation regulations. No inappropriate or improper activity occurred. Thus, the media is urged not to speculate or issue false reports that affect the honor of the Command and unit.
2.With regard to the report that the captain is suspected to have been involved in improper conduct, Command has transferred the captain from his current post while carrying out an investigation. If improper conduct is discovered, regardless of rank and class, he will be punished according to the regulations and will not, in any circumstances, be harbored. Individual rewards from the model group will be recovered in accordance with the regulations.
3.Command insists on the military discipline of the troops, and protects the rights and interests of officers and soldiers. Hence, all actions shall be handled based on laws and regulations impartially to maintain military discipline and the morale of servicemen. However, Command expresses much regret for the false information that has been disseminated.
4.Command will continue to strengthen the education of military (legal) discipline, internal management, and publicity to create a high-quality work environment and ensure the combat effectiveness of troops.
