The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release explaining the post adjustment of the Chief of General Staff of the Staff Headquarters of the Armed Forces (June 24, 2021)

With approval by the President, the posts of generals of the Armed Forces have been adjusted as follows:

1. For the position of Chief of the General Staff, the vacancy will be filled by General Chen Pao-Yu as he is transferred from the position of Commander-in Chief of Army; for the position of Commander-in-chief of Army, it will be filled by General Hsu, Yen-Pu as he is transferred from the position of Vice Chief of the General Staff and the Executive Officer; for the Vice Chief of General Staff and Executive Officer, it will be filled by Lieutenant General Mei, Chia-Shu as he is transferred from the Vice Chief of General Staff, and he is also promoted to Admiral of 2nd Class; for the Military Strategy Advisors of Office of the President (ROC), it will be filled by General Chang, Kuan-Chun as he is transferred from the Deputy Director of Armaments Bureau (MND); General Wang Hsin-Lung is transferred from the post as the Principle of National Defense University to the duty of Deputy Director of Armaments Bureau, MND; for the President of National Defense University, the post will be filled by General Chang Che-Ping as he is transferred from the duty as Vice Minister of Military and Political Department.

2. Lieutenant admiral Mei, Chia-Shu, Vice Chief of the General Staff, graduated from Naval Academy Class year 1985, War Academy Class of 95 (National Defense University Class year 2006), and he used to serve as former Chief of Staff of Commander-in chief of Navy, Director of Armaments Bureau (MND), Administrative Deputy Minister of Ministry of National Defense, Deputy commander of Navy, MND and other important military positions, reckoned to be well furnished with complete studies and experiences. During his current position, he has directed major tasks as national defense strategy and arms build-up planning, and made much contribution. As such, he was specially promoted to serve as the Executive Officer of Vice Chief of the General Staff so that the government can rely on using his rich experiences to further promote various military build-up as well as and war preparation works .

3. The aforementioned transfer cases will take effect on July 1, 2021.
