In response to media reports that " many navy vessels are short of  infrared thermal imaging cameras, rendering them incapable of carrying out day and night surveillance as well as target identification at sea", Navy Command Headquarters states today (20th) that this is pure speculation, and elaborates as follows:

  1. In view of the measures for day and night maritime surveillance and target identification, the Navy achieve such goals via several means. Indeed, each and every ship has been equipped with universal night vision goggles that can be used both day and night in order to strengthen maritime target identification capabilities on main battleships during the day and night, thus meeting the needs of current missions.
  2. The Navy continues to promote various naval build-up projects based on the plan, and purchase all kinds of equipment that can accommodate the tasks needed to conduct missions. As such, the Navy appeal to nationals for continued support.
