To manage promotion of environmental protection policy by the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), the MND has, based on the "Performance Evaluation Operation of the Authority for Green Procurement" but without affecting the security of national defense and combat readiness, focused on "designated procurement items" of Green Procurement to acquire products with environmental labels. As such, it is hoped that government procurement can expand the business opportunities of our country into green product areas, and achieve environmental protection benefits and goals.

The percentage of "designated procurement items" for procurement by the MND is in line with the standards set down by the EPA. The percentage of designated procurement items for green procurement from 2017 to 2019 were, respectively, 98.44%, 99.29%, and 99.32%. Procurement in 2019 topped that of previous years, and the procurement percentage remained high at 98.87% by December 31, 2020.

The results of the implementation of green procurement conducted by the MND have accommodated the annual target value of green procurement by the EPA overall. Furthermore, the MND was also decorated with the outstanding honor of the "Excellent" award in 2019 for green procurement following a performance evaluation coordinated by government authorities over the course of the year.

The MND will continue to cooperate with every policy guidance provided by the EPA to promote various environmental protection work, continuously supervise its affiliated units to carry out green procurement operations, and promote environmental protection training to enhance the effectiveness of green procurement through lectures and inspections, among other things, so it can work in tandem with the EPA and continue to improve environmental protection.
